My saving grace – baked goodies and SIBO snacks! Only eating meat and low FODMAP veggies might be best, but I think if you don’t overindulge you should be allowed some other food. I find if I don’t supplement other food I feel like I am wasting away. So I have tested these recipes and they are in line with what I know of the SIBO specific diet. Thankfully, I am able to tolerate a certain amount of the nuts allowed on the diet, but I know some people can’t tolerate nuts (flour or milk included) but can handle coconut flour/milk so you can substitute that if you want to experiment.
Favorite ingredient notes:
– Vegan protein powder – the one I have found that doesn’t have additives or potato/brown rice is Biochem’s 100% Vegan Protein Vanilla. I think it bakes and blends well.
– I use the almond flour from Costco – it is light and bakes best. Simple Truth Organic almond meal (from Ralph’s) or Trader Joe’s almond meal are fine, too.
– I love Trader Joe’s Power of 7 organic juice not from concentrate to sweeten some recipes. It 100% juice from all low FODMAP fruits and veggies and a teeny, tiny bit goes a long way.
– I did a whole post on nut milks… wow. I’m using almond and pea milk mostly now.
